CADET RESOURCES AND GENERAL MILITARY KNOWLEDGE



I promise to serve faithfully, honor our flag, abide by Naval Sea Cadet Corps regulations, carry out the orders of the officers appointed over me, and so conduct myself as to be a credit to myself, my unit, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, the Navy, the Coast Guard, and my country.
HONOR – Conduct yourself in the highest ethical manner. Be honest, take responsibility for your actions, and keep your word.
RESPECT – Show respect toward all people without regard to race, religion, or gender. Treat each individual with dignity, and value every member of the USNSCC.
COMMITMENT – Care for the safety and well-being of your shipmates and use teamwork to
improve the quality of the Sea Cadet Corps.

11 General Orders of a Sentry
1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view.
2. To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
4. To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guard house than my own.
5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.
6. To receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, field officer of the day, officer of the day and officers and petty officers of the watch.
7. To talk to no one except in the line of duty.
8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
9. To call the petty officer of the watch in any case not covered by instructions.
10. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
11. To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
REPORTING ATTENDANCE
Cadets in Dixon AS-37 are expected to attend every drill. If Cadets are missing from drill the unit is unable to properly function and absent Cadets will be miss out on unit activities. Cadets are required to attend at least 75% of drills to remain in the program.
If Cadets must be absent from drill they must contact their immediate superiors in the chain of command to inform them of the absence.
All Cadets must report, by email using proper etiquette, whether they will be attending drill or not by 1600 Friday before drill or they will be marked as not attending.
Parents/Guardians can not report attendance for any Cadet.
CADET REQUIREMENTS AND PRT STANDARDS
Physical Readiness Test
The Physical Readiness Test, or PRT, is a test you take every 6 months. The passing requirements change as you get older. The elements of the PRT are outlined below. Each event is timed.
– Plank: You will need to hold the plank position for the time specified for your age.
– Push-ups: you will have one minute to do as many push-ups as possible. The required number of push-ups is shown in the chart.
– 1 mile run: You will need to complete the mile in the time allotted for your age.
Attendance
You must maintain at least 75% attendance at all mandatory unit drills. You cannot fall below 75%, if you do, you may be dropped from the program per our national regulations. Each individual Unit will have a policy for make-up drills, how to report absences, and the unit’s policy for unexcused absences.
Academic Standing
You must be enrolled in school or officially homeschooled full-time and successfully progressing academically with at least a C average. If you get expelled from school for any reason, you cannot remain in the Sea Cadets.
Satisfactory Progression
You must be satisfactorily progressing, which means that you are meeting all of the promotion requirements at least once per year and are performing at a satisfactory level.
